The property value on my tax bill is too high. Can I get it reduced?

Property value drives the calculation of taxes. If you have reason to believe the value is inaccurate, you can file an appeal with the applicable Beaufort County department. Which department you contact is determined by the type of property you're appealing.

Real property, which is land and dwellings, as well as mobile homes, are valued by the Beaufort County Assessor’s Office. For more information about appealing the value, please contact the Assessor's Office and check out their helpful online resources. They can be reached at Assessor@bcgov.net or by calling 843-255-2400.

Motor vehicles and personal property, which include boats, business assets, and rental property furnishings, are valued by the Beaufort County Auditor’s Office. For more information about appealing the value, please contact the Auditor’s Office. They can be reached at BeaufortCountyAuditor@bcgov.net or by calling 843-258-5434.
