How do I bid on property held by the Forfeited Land Commission?

Although the tax sale may be completed, properties held by the Forfeited Land Commission (FLC) may still be bid upon and purchased by by submitting a bid to the Treasurer's Office at any time.

Helpful Hints!

The delinquent property owner still has a year and a day from the tax sale to redeem their property, even if the property didn't receive a bid, and must do so in order to maintain ownership of their property. If the FLC receives a bid during this time, the bidder is entitled to receive the resulting interest if the property is redeemed.

First, review the properties currently held by the FLC. You will see that the properties are separated into two lists and have two primary differences.

  1. Properties in Redemption: Only the minimum bid amount will be accepted and the property cannot be titled until after the redemption period has ended.

  2. Properties no longer in Redemption: A bid amount that is less than the minimum bid may be considered through a majority vote of the FLC. Additionally, these properties are eligible for immediate title.

As you prepare to bid, please be sure to research each property you intend to bid on and learn about bidding on delinquent property.

Once you have selected the properties you wish to bid on, you may contact our delinquent department to receive a bidder registration form electronically, or visit our Beaufort Office to complete the form in person and remit the non-refundable $50 registration fee. A copy of your government issued ID is also required.

Bids placed on property held by the Forfeited Land Commission are accepted on a first come, first served basis and can only be paid in person or by mail.
